Seventies from Kevin Pietersen and Andre Fletcher led St Lucia Zouks to a comfortable 30-run victory against Barbados Tridents in Basseterre. The pair added 138 for the second wicket – the highest partnership so far in this season of the CPL – in just 75 balls.Zouks got off to a poor start, losing Johnson Charles in the second over, but then Pietersen and Fletcher took over. Tridents couldn’t stop the runs from flowing, primarily off the bat of Pietersen – he struck three fours in the third over, and took to Rayad Emrit as well, smashing him for two sixes and a four. Pietersen found deep midwicket in the 14th over, and the boundaries dried up for a while, but another late flurry took Zouks to 202 for 5 – the highest total of this CPL.Tridents openers added 41 in 34 balls before Dilshan Munaweera holed out to square leg. Dwayne Smith fell soon after to a running catch by Darren Sammy off his own bowling. The Tridents middle order got off to starts but none of them could carry on to a substantial score, with three batsmen – Shoaib Malik, Kieron Pollard and Jason Holder – scoring 31. Malik, playing his last match of the season, looked in good touch as he struck three fours and a six. Unlike the first innings, boundaries were hard to come by and Tridents found it hard to keep abreast with the required run rate, eventually falling short by 30 runs.
