Arsenal failed to begin their Champions League campaign with a win after they failed to beat Atalanta at Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia. However, they will be hugely thankful for the summer signing of Raya after he saved a second-half penalty from Mateo Retegui and then followed up to save his headed rebound in a remarkable display of agility.

Raya has now hailed Arsenal's goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana for giving him guidance on what Retegui was likely to do with his penalty as the game took a slight pause for the Video Assistant Referee to verify the award of the spot-kick.

WHAT RAYA SAID

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Raya said: “It’s just a penalty, I was lucky to go the right way.

'I was unlucky to give the rebound straight to him but I was lucky to get up and save it. It’s great to keep the clean sheet and help the team get a point.

"The decision to go to the sideline was because it was a long time to decide if it was a pen or not.

"I went to the goalkeeper coach and asked where to go and where not to go, what to do and what not to do. He helped me a lot in every aspect so credit to him as well."
