Wrexham have been handed a “daunting” promotion warning as Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney look to make history in the English Football League.

The Red Dragons have bounced out of the National League – savouring title glory in record-breaking style – and straight up into League One. Phil Parkinson’s side are now riding high in the third tier table, with second place occupied at present.

If they were to step up into the Championship, then the Welsh outfit would become the first club in EFL history to enjoy three successive promotions. That achievement is adding further pressure to already stressful situation, but Wrexham have shown that they can thrive at the business end of a season.

WHAT OLLIE RATHBONE SAID

Ollie Rathbone has told of doing that again and re-writing the history books: “We're aware of it but it can't be a daunting thing, it has to be something that we rise to, something we are excited by and fuelled by. We know it could be very, very special.”

He went on to say, with confidence flowing at SToK Racecourse as many of those involved in the 2024-25 campaign know what it takes to get across a promotion line: “Winning breeds winning and when you come into an environment where people are used to it, it makes a huge difference. You can sense it after a game when some of the senior players and coaching staff are simply: 'Well done, onto the next one'. There's no over celebrating, there's no pats on the back, it's: 'Well done – but that's what we came here to do, now let's go'.”
